A Jaguar Owners' Royal Wedding Celebration

By Alan Hemer

It was a “dark and stormy morning” when seven erstwhile NCJOC members and five well-appointed Club Cars arrived at the atrium-like Entrance to the Georgetown Fairmont Hotel. Our purpose; to partake of the Hotel General Manager’s invitation to celebrate Harry and Meghan’s Royal Wedding. Club cars highlighted the English theme and complimented vehicles provided by Rosenthal Jaguar Land Rover, one of the party’s sponsors.

After the cars were parked at the Hotel entrance, we proceeded inside for a very nice reception and drinks party. The English weather kept us out of the garden but the hotel “just carried on” moving the affair inside.

Though the time difference meant the wedding had already occurred, it was replayed for attendees on a big screen while canapés were passed. Mushy peas on crackers, individual fish and chips portions, and Salmon kept the guests fortified throughout the two-hour party. The bar featured Pimms Cup, Pimms was a sponsor, Mimosas, and no English party is complete without Gin and Tonic.

No surprise, ladies hats were a theme and several prizes were given for the best examples in several categories. Our Ladies contributed to the hat tradition and Richard’s driving cap garnered several “where did you get that cap” questions.
