Before I send it off to Bring-a-Trustfund, I want to offer my ‘03 VDP to club members. I’m looking to move back to the X350/358 Jags as age has made entering and exiting an X308 a bit more challenging since I bought it 5 years ago. The height and seating in the 350/8 line is more comfortable for me now. The car is Quartz grey (LHK) with Charcoal leather (LEG). Interior is in excellent shape.
This car is 1,017 from the end of the line produced in the last two months of the 308’s run. It first lived in Harrisonburg, Va., with the local Ford dealer and then his widow from 1/2003 until I grabbed it 8/2020 a day after it was traded. A tree had destroyed my ‘06 VDP. Purists consider the X308 the last honest-to-goodness bit of the Jag lineage. In the first owner’s 17 years it accumulated 29,862 miles. It’s now a tad under 53,000.
I’ve been meticulous about maintenance, as were the first owners. The ZF5HP24 tranny got an upgraded main high pressure valve and flush as my first step. All fluids were changed. Front brakes were new at 30k. PS reservoir and hose were replaced last year, and all fluids changed. New aluminum T-stat tower and new T-stat and coolant flush in March ‘25. Because there are occasional thumps on rough pavement I asked London Auto to check the suspension. It was pronounced fine. It’s a great highway cruiser. The remote trunk opening button doesn’t work, most likely a wire break at the RR trunk hinge and the plastic cover on the third brake light is cracked and held with tape. It was garaged for 17 years, has one or two small paint chips on the hood, and I have kept it under a car cover much of my ownership.
This beast has won first in class and third in class at the Hunt Country Classic, and two seconds at the Shenandoah Valley British Car Club show. (Awards convey with car). It has minor bumper scuffs, the paint is sound with occasional small, minor clear coat scratches and a door dimple or two. 6-CD changer works great and cassette opening allows easy satellite radio sounds.
